چکیده

This study investigates the deformation and fracture mechanisms of two testing methods, tension under cyclic bending (TCB) plus compression (TCBC) their relationship to single point (SPIF) double-sided (DSIF) incremental sheet forming processes. Experimental tests were carried out by using a bespoke TCBC test rig DSIF machine with grade 1 pure Ti samples. The results show elongation-to-fracture has high relevance depth compression, which leads detailed investigation stress strain evolutions in local region finite element (FE) method. A new Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman (GTN) model is proposed modified shear damage mechanism utilising experimental loci calibrate Lode angle effect low triaxiality. It found reverse-bending stages correspond different states significantly affect occurrence TCB, SPIF, For first time, paths plane triaxiality parameter are used reveal transition modes from equi-biaxial SPIF DSIF, as compared TCB TCBC. Using GTN model, simulation gives accurate predictions TCBC, an error less than 8% comparison results. Although there distinction between uniaxial deformations, concludes that provide insight into formability improvement represent intrinsic processes, ongoing research question, drawn considerable attention recent years.

Investigation of Fracture Depth of Al/Cu Bimetallic Sheet in Single Point Incremental Forming Process

Single point incremental sheet forming (SPISF) has demonstrated significant potential to form complex sheet metal parts without using component-specific tools and is suitable for fabricating low-volume functional sheet metal parts economically. In the SPIF process, a ball nose tool moves along a predefined tool path to form the sheet. This work aims to optimize the formability and forming force...

The Effects of Forming Parameters on the Single Point Incremental Forming of 1050 Aluminum Alloy Sheet

The single point incremental forming (SPIF) is one of the dieless forming processes which is widely used in the sheet metal forming. The correct selection of the SPIF parameters influences the formability and quality of the product. In the present study, the Gurson-Tvergaard Needleman (GTN) damage model was used for the fracture prediction in the numerical simulation of the SPIF process of alum...

An overview of stabilizing deformation mechanisms in incremental sheet forming

In Incremental Sheet Forming (ISF) strains can be obtained well above the Forming Limit Curve (FLC) that is applicable to common sheet forming operations like deep drawing and stretching. This paper presents an overview of mechanisms that have been suggested to explain the enhanced formability. The difference between fracture limit and necking limit in sheet metal forming is discussed. The neck...

Low-Carbon Steel Sheet Asymmetric Single-Point Incremental Forming: Analysis and Optimization of the Surface Roughness (TECHNICAL NOTE)

Surface roughness (SR) has an adverse effect on the appearance of low-carbon steel parts, formed in the asymmetric incremental sheet forming (AISF) process, particularly those requiring painting operation. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of AISF process parameters on the surface roughness of an asymmetric part formed on low-carbon steel sheets. The parameters are feed ra...

Modeling and Validation of the Layered Deformation for Double Sided Incremental Forming

This work proposes an equivalent layered model based on the contour trajectory for Double Sided Incremental Forming (DSIF). The layered deformation and displacement are analyzed for the truncated cones with different height. The displacement for every layer is obtained by numerical analysis and theoretical calculation under the assumption of straight projection. A general method is introduced t...
